Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Big To-Do: Short Cuts, our midweek round-up of what’s going on around Boston, as selected by Boston Globe critics and writers.

Thursday

  • “Severance” star Britt Lower plays a fictional former Globie in the new Boston-set mystery, “I Will Find You,” debuting on Netflix.

  • “Toy Story 5,” the latest installment in Disney’s hit animated franchise, premieres in the theaters this weekend.

  • Stop by City Hall for a special Juneteenth flag raising event, featuring speeches from city leaders and live musical performances.

Friday

  • The MFA celebrates Juneteenth with an open house, featuring free admission for all Massachusetts residents.

  • Boston artists ToriTori and Nay $peaks perform at the ICA for a Juneteenth celebration in collaboration with the Boston Ujima Project.

  • The Black Crowes bring their Southern-spiked melodies to the Xfinity Center in Mansfield.

Saturday

  • Franklin Park gets in on the Juneteenth celebration with a free, all-day party in the park’s Shattuck Picnic Area.

  • Authors Rasheed Newson and Nathan Tavares sit for a chat at All She Wrote Books.

  • Blending blues, soul, and rock, Son Little performs at the Sinclair in Cambridge.

Sunday

  • “Game of Thrones” spinoff series “House of the Dragon” returns for its third season on HBO and HBO Max.

  • Get ready, Millennials: nu metal rockers Evanescence take the stage at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield.




Ongoing

  • The production “Bad Books” continues at the Gloucester Stage Company through June 27.

  • ART’s stage adaptation of “Black Swan” runs at the Loeb Drama Center through July 12.
