Disabled VA workers lose remote accommodations despite doctors’ advice

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs employees who process benefit claims in St. Pete told the Times the agency is discriminating against them because of their disabilities.

Nearly 140 of them have filed complaints and are working with attorneys and union leaders to have their remote work restored. Dozens more have quit.

The VA revoked the remote work accommodations following President Donald Trump's order for federal employees to return to the office.

More than a year of deliberations: The Clearwater City Council has decided to give a portion of South Garden Avenue downtown to the Church of Scientology. Residents are still fighting against the move.

A nine-hour meeting: Hundreds of Citrus County community members rallied together in opposition to a zoning proposal meant to attract data centers. Officials recommended against the proposal, but it will proceed to the County Commission in June.

"Everyone is looking forward to the next chapter": The hurricane-battered office tower that once held the Times will be demolished to make way for a new condo tower.

Redevelop into a 250-home community: Hillsborough County commissioners delayed a final decision on the future of the former Pebble Creek Golf Club.
