Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

This message is for users of the PECOS PI and AI applications in the Production environment.

Please be advised that the CMS PECOS PI and AI applications in the Production (PROD) environment will not be available from 08:00 AM EST to 01:00 PM EDT on Saturday, 07/04/2026, due to the R7.58.0 code deployment.

The following PI enhancements are included in this release:

  • Updates to 855A form not to prompt a required message for "Active License Information" when active license information is not available for "Hospice" enrollments where IHS flag is set to Yes for applicable states.
  • Updates to PECOS PI to align with the new MDPP Paper form changes.
  • Updates to the 855S form to provide educational guidance when deleting a surety bond from a finalized enrollment.
  • 855A Enrollments will include a new question: “Is the applicant solely enrolling in Medicare to participate in Medicaid or another health care program and will not bill Medicare?”.
  • On the My Associated page in PECOS PI, Rejected Enrollments will now display in descending order by most recent rejection date.
  • On the My Associates page in PECOS PI, Rejected Enrollments older than 120 days will no longer be displayed.
  • The messages on the Revalidation Notification Center (RNC) have been updated to reflect the rules for revalidation data on Data.CMS.Gov. Other features have also been added to improve the RNC.
  • Novitas option is displayed in the existing PECOS system when a Texas-based individual provider reassigns benefits to a Critical Access Hospital (CAH), where IHS indicator is set to “Yes”. A note below must be displayed on the Submission Page instructing users to select Novitas when this scenario applies. The note must read on CAH enrollment in red. Note: Reassignments to Critical Access Hospitals designated as Indian Health Services from providers located in Texas must select Novitas as their Reassignment Contractor.
  • Updates to the 855S to change surety bond labels to match across PI and AI.

The following AI enhancements are included in this release:

  • Updates to the 855S form section 2 - Accreditation Information section to display the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) to Product and Services code crosswalk in PECOS AI. The Crosswalk information will be available for CMS as reference and will not be sent in any extracts.
  • Updates to 855A form not to display the required error message “Missing Current License Information” as part of the enrollment Approval process when active license Information is not available for Hospice Providers when IHS flag is yes in PECOS AI for applicable states.
  • Updates to PECOS AI to add a warning message in PECOS AI to alert users when an existing surety bond number is entered for a different surety bond company.
  • Updates to PECOS AI to include the new Approval Status Reasons “Stay of Enrollment - Non Response to Development”, and “Stay of Enrollment - Non-compliance”. Comments field is made required on the Status Change page when selecting the “Stay of Enrollment” status reason.
  • Updates to PECOS AI to include 3 new Stay of Enrollment Administrative Flag status reasons, “Non Compliance”, “Non-Response to Development”, “Other” in Section 3. Removed existing Stay of Enrollment administrative flag reason “CMS Directed” in PECOS.
  • Updates to PECOS AI to exclude ‘855O Form - All enrollments’, ‘855A, B, I, S & 20134 (MDPP) Forms - Inactive enrollments (deactivated, rejected, revoked, denied, withdrawn in PECOS)’, and ‘Individual practitioners who have re-assigned all their benefits’ form “PECOS Name Change Report”.
  • Updates to PECOS AI to create an automated file conversion tool that converts Excel files uploaded by an Accrediting Organization into CSV format.
  • Updates to the 855S form to allow granular updates for the NSC Global Load process. The Mailing Address, Amount of Allocation, and Effective Date of Allocation can be selected independently and applied to the other enrollments for the TIN. The End Date of Allocation will function like a full NSC Global Load. The Effective Date of Allocation is restricted to all users except Manager and Super Users.
  • Updates to the Site Visit Cancel hyperlink for all form types when an application is in “Return for Corrections” status and the site visit has been ordered or sent to the NSVC and not yet returned to allow super users to cancel the site visit when necessary.
  • 855A Enrollments will include a new question: “Is the applicant solely enrolling in Medicare to participate in Medicaid or another health care program and will not bill Medicare?”.
  • 855S Enrollments will display an error message when the Effective Date of Allocation is earlier than the Surety Bond Effective Date.
  • PECOS to allow individuals from Texas to reassign Critical Access Hospital (CAH) entities that are Indian Health Service (IHS) to different states. Similarly, the CAH enrollments with IHS value flagged as “Yes” should be able to accept reassignments from individuals in Texas.
  • Updates to the 855S surety bond reconciliation process to allow users to reconcile surety bonds using Accept All. A warning will be issued if applying end date to surety bond indicating that you will not be able to globally load the end dated record if systematically reconciling. Updates to the 855S to restrict deleting the surety bond if all fields are not the same.

Thank you,
