Hello,
One of my favorite ways to keep both the body and brain in top shape is through coordination exercises. They're fun, they're simple, and they work! Try this one with me!
Bonus tips to boost your brain health:
-
Take care of the basics. Exercise, eat well, and get enough sleep. Try to include more seafood, nuts, and healthy fats in your diet — they may help lower your risk for dementia. And for better sleep, remember to stick to a routine and avoid caffeine in the evenings.
-
Stay connected. Spend time with family, friends, or neighbors. Volunteer, visit a museum, or join a local club. Social activities are great for your brain!
-
Do things you love to keep your brain active. Hobbies, puzzles, reading, writing or learning any new skill.
-
Keep up with your health. Work with your doctor to stay on top of any chronic conditions you may have. Use your annual wellness visit as an opportunity to talk with your doctor about screenings for the upcoming year, including a cognitive assessment to look for early signs of dementia.
Some memory changes are normal with age. But if you have concerns, talk with your doctor about a separate visit for a cognitive assessment — don't wait!
Stay well,
Dr. Oz
