Today: Linen clothes that are worth the spend. Plus …

This summer’s best linen menswear

Bo Linen Drawstring Shorts from Alex Crane in the color Dusk 2
Alex Crane

“I bought a pair of these shorts nearly a decade ago, and I’ve never looked back,” says writer John Ortved. These breezy French linen shorts are lightweight and chic (perfect for a boat day, if that happens to be in your future), and their elastic waistband makes them comfortable enough to wear all day long.

John recently spent a hot New York City day trying on more than a dozen pieces of linen from 13 different stores. The shorts were one of his favorites. Other standouts? An “unusually elegant” short-sleeved shirt and a well-priced summer suit.

First things first: Don’t fight the wrinkles. They’re a feature, not a bug. As style expert Frances Solá-Santiago says: “Who has time to think about wrinkles when you’re cool, dry, and having fun?”

Your daily deal: A delightfully dainty sneaker

These sneakers are comfy, yes, but we love how their satin fabric and slim silhouette make them feel elevated, too. Newsletters editor Brittney Ho recently snagged a crisp white pair, and she (and her arches) are big fans of the surprisingly cushy sole.

One last thing: Mac and cheese!!!

We can imagine that Erin Walsh, Anne Hathaway’s stylist, has probably been busy dressing her client ahead of the release of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.” Recently, we spoke to her about everything she packs while she’s on the road. No Trojan horses here.
