We recently purchased the factory that has made our uniforms for decades.
Every weekday, eight times a day, the shrill steam whistle from an old train engine cuts through the air in quiet Bowdon, Georgia. In this town of just 2,500 people near the Alabama state line, that sound is woven into daily life. It marks the rhythm of the day and sets the pace for the men and women who work at the Bowdon Uniforms factory. For more than 80 years, skilled craftsmen from Georgia and Alabama have made some of the finest American suits and military uniforms right here. Many of the small businesses in town have a brick with the logo “Built by Bowdon” painted on the front, demonstrating the pride this town takes in its local manufacturing industry, which has supplied fine suits and uniforms since the end of the Second World War.
At Bowdon, making uniforms the right way matters more than speed or shortcuts. The work is still done using traditional methods that most factories abandoned long ago. Skilled workers with decades of experience cut, sew, fuse, and press every panel with meticulous attention to detail. They make uniforms the old-fashioned way, steam pressing every seam, trimming with premium interior components, and press-forming every finished garment. These are details that only experienced tailors with a deep respect for the craft truly understand. The result is a uniform that fits well, wears well, and stands the test of time, like the factory that makes it.
In recent months, Marlow White purchased the Bowdon manufacturing operation and brought it into our family. This was not a change in direction, but a formal commitment to a partnership that had already proven itself over decades. For more than 20 years, we have made our uniforms in the Bowdon factory because they make the finest uniforms in the nation. By uniting manufacturing and retail into one company, we are reinforcing quality at every step and securing a strong, reliable, American supply chain for the long term.
The team at Bowdon Uniforms takes immense pride in their work, which is exactly why they have been our uniform supplier for so many years. Very few factories in the United States can still do this kind of work, and fewer still can do it well. We believe Bowdon is the best of the best and are excited for the future of our combined companies as we continue helping our nation’s best look their best for generations to come.
