Amazon has made Alexa+ free for all US users with eligible Fire TV devices, expanding access beyond Prime members. Alexa+ understands natural language and can control smart home devices. Amazon plans to expand free access to more countries and devices.

Google puts a 24-hour waiting period on sideloading
Google has started gradually rolling out Android's new "advanced" sideloading process, which introduces a 24-hour waiting period before users can install apps from unverified developers. The change is designed to create additional friction and enhance user protection by requiring users to enable a specific Developer option and confirm their intent over a one-day period.

Uber, Zipline to expand drone delivery in US
Uber Technologies has partnered with Zipline to expand drone-based food delivery, starting in Dallas and Rowlett, Texas. Uber Eats customers will be able to choose drone delivery later this year, and the companies aim to scale the service nationwide, targeting 1 million deliveries daily by 2029.

CFO: Target to use tariff refunds to reduce prices

Target reported a 3.8% jump in second-quarter same-store sales and a 3.6% increase in customer traffic, fueled in part by strong momentum in the beauty category, and the company has raised its full-year guidance. Ongoing turnaround efforts under CEO Michael Fiddelke have focused on refreshing product assortments, lowering prices and redesigning store layouts, initiatives that have helped reverse sluggish sales. Target, which now expects full-year sales growth of 5%, also said Wednesday that it has received almost $1 billion in tariff refunds, boosting second-quarter operating income by 94%. Chief Financial Officer Jim Lee says the company will invest the refunds in price reductions to ensure value for customers.
