Target reported a 3.8% jump in second-quarter same-store sales and a 3.6% increase in customer traffic, fueled in part by strong momentum in the beauty category, and the company has raised its full-year guidance. Ongoing turnaround efforts under CEO Michael Fiddelke have focused on refreshing product assortments, lowering prices and redesigning store layouts, initiatives that have helped reverse sluggish sales. Target, which now expects full-year sales growth of 5%, also said Wednesday that it has received almost $1 billion in tariff refunds, boosting second-quarter operating income by 94%. Chief Financial Officer Jim Lee says the company will invest the refunds in price reductions to ensure value for customers.
