New Student Orientation - August 20 12:10-2pm

We are excited to welcome all our new students to West Potomac for Orientation Today!! Please note we will be simulating a normal school arrival so families dropping off their students should utilize our kiss and ride area. Buses will be utilizing the bus loop and those students will enter at Door 1. Students may enter through doors 1, 5, and 19. These are the same three entrances we use every morning for school.

Please note we will be modeling the updated cell phone policy so from 12:10-2pm students should ensure their phones are out of sight.

9^th Graders – All 9th graders will report to their 3^rd period (Advisory) to start Orientation.

9th graders will spend about 90 minutes in the advisory meeting their advisory teacher and Den Leader Peer Mentors, learning about our school, and taking a tour of the building. Then from 1:40-2:00pm they’ll be able to walk the building, find their classes, and meet their teachers.
9^th graders can find their 3^rd Period (Advisory) room number on StudentVue this morning at 9am. Administrators will also have classroom lists to help locate the room number as they arrive for the event.

New 10^th-12^th Graders – All new 10^th-12^th graders should report to the Library upon arriving for Orientation. The library is next to our Door 1 entrance.
Bus Transportation – The following buses will be available on Thursday. Pick up times at each stop were sent to families on Tuesday. Buses will depart at 3pm allowing students to stay on campus for the first half of our Wolverine Welcome Open House. Those riding the buses should arrive five minutes before the scheduled pick up time.

Wolverine Welcome Open House and Resource Fair – August 20 2-4pm

Families can walk the halls, find their classrooms, meet their teachers and visit our Resource Fair in the Main Gym. Some of our community resources that will be in attendance include:

South County Teen Center
Gum Springs Community Center
Neighborhood and Community Services
FCPS Literacy Team
Members of the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Edu-Futuro
Post 2252 Fairfax County Public Safety Cadets
WPHS Administrators, School Counselors, WPHS PTSA, and WPHS Crew will also be available in the main gym.

Please note some teachers are in more than one classroom. Therefore a list will be available during the event where those teachers who teach in more than one classroom can be found.
Class of 2027 Yearbook Photos - Cady Photography will be on campus on August 20th to take official yearbook photos. While there are a variety of upgraded portrait packages available for purchase, the basic photo session required to be included in the yearbook is completely free.
