Since trade talks collapsed, Prime Minister Mark Carney and Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette have said that U.S. negotiators sought last-minute concessions targeting laws promoting French-language cultural content and requiring the language be included in packaging and instruction manuals.
But Donald Trump has denied taking aim at Quebec, The Gazette's Jack Wilson reports, with the president claiming he had “never even thought of doing such a stupid thing.”
