He’s on the short list of the best cornerbacks in the game, so he deserves to be paid like one. If you go by average annual value, that’s somewhere in the low-$30-million range. Does he deserve to be the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL, even though he might not be the best, at least according to some metrics? Yes, because he’s in the conversation as being elite, and he’s the next guy in line for a contract. It’s not my money, but that’s the way the business works.
