Krzychu, I opened an old Home Assistant guide this week. The first line said: “Enable Advanced mode.”
That sentence is never relaxing. It sounds like the person writing the guide has handed you one large red button and quietly left the room.
I only wanted one small setting. Instead, I was apparently being promoted to a job I did not apply for.
Home Assistant is finally removing the old global Advanced mode switch. The useful settings are not going away. They are just getting less theatrical.
Instead of one big switch that opens a pile of unrelated stuff, a setting can now:
- show up when it makes sense
- sit under Show more when it is useful but not needed every day
- live next to the thing it actually changes
Even “Developer Tools” is now simply called Tools. Which is fair. Most people were not trying to become developers. They wanted to check a sensor, test something small, and go back to pretending the automation worked on the first try.
I made a short video about what changes, what does not, and how to read an old guide when it still says “enable Advanced mode.”
If you want to help the channel, watch it until the end. If this topic is not for you, skip it completely. I will not know. Home Assistant will not put it in the logs. Probably.
