Multiple people were injured in a shooting at a house party in Taunton, Massachusetts, overnight.

Taunton polcie said they received several 911 calls around 12:30 a.m. Sunday reporting shots fired and multiple people hit in the area of Weir and Sumner streets.

Responding officers determined that the shooting happened at a home on Weir Street near the intersection of Sumner Street, where they found multiple victims with gunshot wounds. They said multiple people were rushed to area hospitals for treatment, and they also learned that other victims might have already left the scene to seek medical treatment on their own.

A mistrial was declared in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial on Friday after jurors failed to reach a verdict on whether she was criminally responsible for killing her three young children at her Massachusetts home.

Judge William Sullivan declared the mistrial on the seventh day of deliberations after jurors sent a note saying: “It is with a heavy heart that we report we are unable to come to a unanimous decision and will not be able to.”

The emotionally charged case has sharply divided many Americans and generated intense interest for over a month as it’s drawn attention to issues around maternal mental health after childbirth.

One person is dead after a pickup truck and a utility truck collided head-on late Friday night in Dedham, Massachusetts, causing the pickup to become engulfed in flames.

The Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office confirmed it is investigating the fatal, head-on collision that occurred around 11:15 p.m. in the area of 960 Washington Street. The Dedham Police Department had said it received multiple 911 calls around that time reporting a crash.

Both Dedham and Westwood police and fire departments responded where they found an injured person in one of the vehicles, and worked to extinguish the fire, police said.

Two adults and two children were rescued by two bystanders after they were unable to return to shore while swimming off Cape Cod on Saturday morning.

Barnstable police said they were called to a report of four people possibly in distress in the water off Sandy Neck Beach in West Barnstable around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Arriving officers learned that two children were in the water and having difficulty returning to the shore due to the strong current. Two adults were also 100 yards farther off shore and were also having difficulty making it back to land.

Two bystanders reportedly swam out and assisted all four people back to shore, police said.

Union workers at the Encore Boston Harbor are on the picket line this Labor Day weekend, demanding new contracts at the resort casino in Everett, Massachusetts.

The workers officially went on strike Friday morning, and more than 100 were still out on Saturday standing in solidarity with one another. The workers, part of labor union Unite Here Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25, say they are fighting for better wages, stronger benefits and greater job protections. They say those demands have not yet been met by Wynn Resorts.

“We don’t want to keep striking. We’ve built good relationships with the guests. We don’t want them to experience this, and we don’t want it to take long,” Kamal Nadir said.

Two boaters were rescued by emergency personnel after being knocked into the water off Nahant, Massachusetts, on Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after 1 p.m., Nahant police and fire responded to a report of two boaters in distress in the water off East Point.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a boat lost power off East Point. Another boat stopped to assist them when a wave knocked two people into the water.
