	President Donald Trump appeared to dismiss calls to slow down AI developments.

• “Whoever wins AI wins”: The president said the U.S. was leading against China on AI, and he wanted to keep it that way. Meanwhile, Democrats are seeking to capitalize on growing public unease about AI.

• Zooming out: Trump’s comments come as key AI leaders have called to slow the pace of development due to safety concerns. A former researcher said AI could destroy humans within the next decade.

A woman died from complications of a probable measles case, an official said.

• What to know: Pennsylvania’s county coroner said the unvaccinated 40-year-old woman showed many common symptoms. She died Saturday.

• The bigger picture: More than 100 measles cases were reported in the past week, according to the state health department. Measles cases hit a 35-year-record this summer.

A Wisconsin lawmaker said he swam to safety after an emergency plane landing.

• What to know: As Rep. Tom Tiffany headed home on Saturday, his plane lost power. He and the pilot suffered minor injuries after they were forced to land in a lake.

• An investigation: The Federal Aviation Administration is looking into the incident. David Crowley, a Democrat who is Tiffany’s unlikely opponent for governor, wished him “a quick recovery.”
