But first, the latest from Canberra on the federal government's $560 million pre-election grants scheme.

Labor grants: We start this Wednesday with more revelations on the sports and community grants promised before last year's federal election.

Our chief digital federal political correspondent Clare Armstrong can this morning report that questions are being raised about a $5 million pledge by Labor to fund an Adelaide sports precinct, despite it not having yet been formally scoped, designed or fully costed.

The Coalition says the funding failed to follow the proper process, as Labor's "invite-only" grants scheme comes under increased scrutiny.

Tip of the iceberg: An 81-year-old woman is accusing Suncorp's debt collector of using intimidation to pressure her to pay. She's one of many falling victim to what legal experts are calling "Robodebt 2.0".

'Not a good look': Under-fire multi-level marketing company MONAT has used a Parliament House event as promotional material, weeks after an ABC investigation. That has led to calls for better oversight of who can host events in the halls of power.

Indigenous incarceration: Nearly two-thirds of the NT's prison population is living with a mental illness, a new report finds. Despite this, the territory offers no mental health facility or specialised support for inmates.

DV epidemic: The murder of a 28-year-old woman in the town of Forbes is putting renewed focus on gaps in Australia's domestic and family violence support network. In particular, experts say numerous factors are making it harder for victims in regional areas to find help. 

Hard times ahead: Economist Charles Goodhart is known primarily for his eponymous piece of wisdom, Goodhart's Law — an observed statistical relationship tends to collapse once you target it for policy purposes. Business reporter Gareth Hutchens has written an analysis of a recent warning from Mr Goodhart, predicting an economically difficult time on our doorstep.

An unlikely threat is wreaking havoc in parts of Papua New Guinea, with farmers like Anthony Morant reporting months of consistent frosts.

The culprit behind this unusual weather pattern in the Pacific country is El Niño, the same climate driver expected to break records over the next several months.

What is a heart attack? For many years, the commonly understood definition may have been leading to worse health outcomes, in particular for women who suffer from a little-known condition called SCAD.

But that definition is now changing, with medical experts agreeing on criteria for a heart attackdesigned to take gender-specific differences into account.

It's hoped the move will better capture SCAD, responsible for one in four heart attacks experienced by women under 60.
