My dearest queers,
Since our last correspondence, the world has lost some sparkly icons.
It's hard to believe that our beloved Dolly, a champion of kindness, campness and human rights, left this world the same day as Rocky Horror icon Tim Curry, whose portrayal of the gender-bending Dr Frank-N-Furter made him an instant queer hero.
While we nursed our heavy hearts, this month saw a big win for trans rights with the High Court rejecting an appeal from the founder of a women's only app, who had previously lost her discrimination case for barring trans woman Roxanne Tickle.
Nearly five years after lodging her discrimination complaint, Roxanne shared she hopes the ruling "provides clarity to the protections in law for transgender and gender diverse people in Australia, and perhaps provides a beacon of light to the rest of the world.
"I wish my trans and gender diverse siblings, as well as their loved ones, much hope and love for their collective futures, and may we all learn that just being different is not grounds for you to be ridiculed, attacked, feared or hated, but that instead you are providing a little something extra to the world.
"Life is not easy. Let's all be kinder to each other and we might all enjoy it a little more."
Spring has sprung,
Mon
