Ari Emanuel knows who he is and he isn’t trying to change. In his new memoir, Roll the Calls, the Hollywood superagent—made famous by Jeremy Piven’s portrayal of a character based on him on Entourage—makes the case for why his notorious rage is, essentially, his superpower. “Rage means shit’s finally going to get done. Atom splittings, moon landings, Ozempic—humankind’s milestone discoveries didn’t start as inspiration; they started as aggravation,” Emanuel writes. Vanity Fair’s Maxwell Adler got an advanced look at the book, in which Emanuel fires shots at everyone from former business associates to his own brothers. At one point he even writes that business partner, Mark Shapiro, is the brother he never had. (Though his publisher let us know that later printings of the book say “little brother.”)
