As far as affordable European vacations go, Greece’s Peloponnese region is a getaway you can’t afford to miss, writes Dan Rubinstein. In the coastal port city of Nafplio, about two hours outside of Athens, he found all the charms of the Greek islands – postcard-perfect beaches, dreamy tavernas, a historic car-free downtown – without the costs or ferry logistics. And as they learned from the Greeks, “ola kala” – “all is well.”

And an emergency root canal in the Faroe Islands doesn’t sound like anyone’s ideal vacation activity – but as Jane Macdougall discovers, it was actually a great way to get to know a new place – and learn how to remain ‘open wide’ to new experiences.
