If the Patriots’ defense is to immediately regain some of the mojo it lost in last week’s 35-6 setback against the Jaguars, it won’t be easy.
Through three weeks of the season, the undefeated Bills are averaging a league-best 33.7 points per game. Quarterback Josh Allen directs an attack that’s in the top 10 of every major statistical category, including yards per game (401.7, fourth in the NFL), rushing yards per game (155, fourth), and passing yards per game (246.7, ninth).
“They’re really successful [in] everything … a lot of things they do. They rarely punt — five punts in three games,” coach Mike Vrabel said. “Josh does a fantastic job of being able to extend plays. The linemen do a fantastic job of understanding the scheme that they want to run, and creating lanes for [James] Cook.
“Once he gets cooking — no pun intended — they’re just tough to stop.”
