MDM Decommissioning Notification
Master Data Management (MDM) Announcement

The Master Data Management (MDM) platform is being formally retired as part of CMS’s broader data modernization effort.

This is the first of a series of notifications for all MDM data users and consumers about the decommissioning of the MDM PMI/SPP and NPI Profile provider data products. 

  • The final data refresh of the MDM PMI/SPP and NPI Profile provider data products will occur on November 12, 2026.
  • Effective November 13, 2026, please contact IDR Support for any MDM PMI/SPP and NPI Profile access needs or data inquiries.
  • MDM termination of external data shares and S3 access will take effect November 18, 2026.
  • A snapshot of the final data refresh of the MDM PMI/SPP and NPI Profile provider data products will reside in the IDR by November 18, 2026. 

If your applications, reports, or processes rely on the MDM PMI/SPP and/or NPI Profile data products, please begin planning for this change by contacting the IDR Support team at MDM-IDR-Migration@GDIT.com and the CMS IDR Support team at CMSIDR_Support@cms.hhs.gov to migrate to alternate provider data in the Integrated Data Repository (IDR).

[ALERT] CMS PECOS R7.59.0 Release - 10/05/2026

This message is for users of the PECOS PI and AI applications in the Production environment.

Please be advised that the CMS PECOS PI and AI applications in the Production (PROD) environment will not be available from 08:00 AM EST to 01:00 PM EST on Saturday, 10/03/2026, due to the R7.59.0 code deployment.

The following PI enhancements are included in this release:

  • PECOS-801909 - 855O: Automation of CRNA eligibility through PECOS using the 855O for ordering and referring
    • PECOS PI: The Specialty dropdown menu has been updated to allow Providers to select CERTIFIED REGISTERED NURSE ANESTHETIST (CRNA) when enrolling through the 855O form.
  • PECOS-801822 - Remove “Identify how your business is registered with the IRS” question when reassigning all benefits
    • PECOS PI: Updates to PECOS PI to remove the “Identify how your business is registered with the IRS” question when reassigning all benefits for the 855I form type. This removal applies to all physician and non physician specialties.
  • PECOS-801830 - Append receipt of payments from Pay.gov directly into PECOS so manual upload is not required
    • PECOS PI: Updates to PECOS PI to automatically append the Pay.gov payment receipt to the associated application. PECOS will not append a PDF when a payment is completed outside of PECOS from the login page. Providers must upload the payment receipt when submitting it from the login page.
  • PECOS-801823: Update "Resident Information" question to match paper form
    • PECOS PI: The Resident Information Status question will be updated in the MER to "Are the services that you render at the hospital/facility reported in this application part of your requirements for graduation from a formal residency or program?” so it matches the paper form
  • PECOS-71690 - Update PDAC and PECOS PAR Status Extract Report for Non-Accredited Product Oral HIV PrEP Drugs
    • PECOS PI: Added Oral HIV PrEP Drugs to the non-accredited product list on Supplier applications
  • PECOS-801670 - Enhance Associate Creation Workflow for Surety Bond Companies to Utilize NAIC
    • PECOS PI: Updated Surety Bond Information to utilize NAIC for Surety Bond Companies instead of TIN
  • PECOS-797291 - 855S Add Accreditations and Surety Bonds to the Document Type Drop-down.
    • PECOS PI: Updates to PECOS PI, to add ‘Accreditation Letter’ and ‘Surety Bond’ in the Document Type drop-down of the Required and/or Supporting Documentation section.
  • PECOS 801825-Display date of enrollment status change from PECOS AI in PECOS PI
    • PECOS PI- Updates to PECOS PI to display the enrollment status date on My Enrollment and My Associates pages in PECOS PI from PECOS AI.
  • PECOS-801870- Add new physician specialty - Physician Nutrition Specialist (F7) in PECOS.
    • PECOS PI: Updates to 855O and 855I to include the new Physician Specialty F7-Phsyician Nutrition Specialist as a valid primary and secondary specialty.
  • PECOS-801811 - 855A: Updates to the Hospice (sub-unit) Provider type questionnaire.
    • PECOS PI: Updates made to the 855A form Hospice (sub-unit) Provider type questionnaire.
    • Updates made to standardize the display of “Hospice (Hospital Based)” across all user facing interfaces, questionnaires, and reports. No changes were made to underlying system’s behavior.
    • Updates made to PECOS PI Pay.Gov to display all Part A FFS contractors for both Hospice (Freestanding) and Hospice (Hospital Based) selections.

The following AI enhancements are included in this release:

  • PECOS-801909 - 855O: Automation of CRNA eligibility through PECOS using the 855O for ordering and referring
    • PECOS AI: The system has been updated to allow MACs to enroll CRNAs via the 855O form.
  • PECOS-801355 - Add Site Visit Type "04 - DME OBSERVATIONAL SURVEY" to PECOS for DME Observational Site Visits
    • PECOS AI: Updates to PECOS AI to add the new Site Visit Type "04 - DME OBSERVATIONAL SURVEY", rename Site Visit Type "03 - DME SURVEY" to "03 - DME DETAILED SURVEY and sent in the Site Visit Request File.
  • PECOS-801822 - Remove “Identify how your business is registered with the IRS” question when reassigning all benefits.
    • PECOS AI: Updates to PECOS AI to remove the “Identify how your business is registered with the IRS” question when reassigning all benefits for the 855I form type. This removal applies to all physician and non physician specialties.
  • PECOS-801830 - Append receipt of payments from Pay.gov directly into PECOS so manual upload is not required
    • PECOS AI: Updates to PECOS AI to add a link to the Tracking ID in the Payments tab that will navigate the user to the payment receipt copy in a new tab.
  • PECOS-801708: PECOS AI - Update PECOS AI to make the PI enrollment submitter information available for MACs
    • PECOS AI: PECOS to display the PI submitter information in the ADR for the MACs. The information is currently displayed in the MER report. The same will be displayed in the ADR report.
  • PECOS-801823: Update "Resident Information" question to match paper form
    • PECOS AI: The Resident Information Status question will be updated in the ADR to "Are the services that you render at the hospital/facility reported in this application part of your requirements for graduation from a formal residency or program?” so it matches the paper form
  • PECOS-801698: Add Enrollment Status Column to the Associates w/ Connections Search Results Page in AI
    • PECOS AI: A column titled 'Enrollment Status' will be present in the enrollment information results shown when Associates w/Connections are queried in PECOS AI in order to show each enrollment's current status.
  • PECOS-71690 - Update PDAC and PECOS PAR Status Extract Report for Non-Accredited Product Oral HIV PrEP Drugs
    • PECOS AI: Added Oral HIV PrEP Drugs to the non-accredited product list on CMS-FORM 855S enrollments
  • PECOS-801670 - Enhance Associate Creation Workflow for Surety Bond Companies to Utilize NAIC
    • PECOS AI: Updated Surety Bond Information to utilize NAIC for Surety Bond Companies instead of TIN
  • PECOS-801357 - Allow NSVCs to resubmit site visit reports in order to resolve administrative issues without impact on the Received Date
    • PECOS AI: Updated PECOS to accept rework update and administrative updates on existing site visits without the administrative update impacting the receive date.
  • PECOS-801362 - Change Request: Add Accredited Products & Services and Specialty Type to the SV Order for “03 – DME Detailed Survey” and “04 – DME Observational Survey”
    • PECOS AI: Updated PECOS to send Specialty Types and Accredited Products & Services to NSVCs on the DME Detailed Survey and DME Observational Survey site visits.
  • PECOS-797291 - 855S Add Accreditations and Surety Bonds to the Document Type Drop-down.
    • PECOS AI: Updates to PECOS AI, to add ‘Accreditation Letter’ in the Document Type drop-down of the Section 12: Supporting Documents section.
  • PECOS-799357: System Admin page for Super Users to enter Site Visit Waiver TDL Information
    • PECOS AI – Updates to PECOS AI Maintenance Tool - The new “Add Site Visit Waiver Information” Maintenance Tool in PECOS will allow CMS Super users to add the waiver information, including extension information, directly into PECOS
  • PECOS-800933 - Add the Reassignment Primary and Secondary Practice location to the Practitioner's State's page
    • PECOS AI – Updates to PECOS AI States Medicare Report - Currently, the report does not show the Primary or Secondary practice locations in the Practitioner's Reassignment section. With this change, the report for the Practitioner will include the Primary and Secondary Practice Locations of the group in the Practitioner's Reassignment section.
  • PECOS 801825-Display date of enrollment status change from PECOS AI in PECOS PI
    • PECOS AI- No updates
  • PECOS-801021- Systematically suppress EFT and SV Required message when approving enrollment with Stay of Enrollment Status Reasons
    • PECOS AI: Updates to 855A, 855B, 855I, 855S, and MDPP (20134) to suppress "Missing Current EFT information.", "Site Visit is not ordered for {xxxx}.", and “Site Visit Information is not received for {xxxx}.” required errors when approving an enrollment with a Stay of Enrollment status reason.
  • PECOS-801870- Add new physician specialty - Physician Nutrition Specialist (F7) in PECOS.
    • PECOS AI: Updates to 855O, 855I and Opt-Out Affidavit to include the new Physician Specialty F7-Phsyician Nutrition Specialist as a valid primary and secondary specialty.
  • PECOS-801811 - 855A: Updates to the Hospice (sub-unit) Provider type questionnaire.
    • PECOS AI: Implemented standardized display of “Hospice (Hospital Based)” across all user facing interfaces, questionnaires, and reports. No changes were made to underlying system’s behavior.
  • PECOS-801790- Update AO Reports tool tip and informative text on the AO File Management Page
    • Updates made to tooltips and informative text across multiple AO Reports, ensuring consistency and clarity. This includes tooltip text for AO Reports, informative text for the Enrollment Summary Report, and updated messaging for the AO Error Summary section.

CMS HCPCS LEVEL II PUBLIC MEETING- November 2, 2026-November 3, 2026 (Overflow date)

CMS is announcing the Second Biannual (B2) 2026 hybrid HCPCS Level II Public Meeting for November 2, 2026, with an overflow date of Tuesday, November 3, 2026 to be held virtually, if necessary, to discuss CMS’ preliminary coding, Medicare benefit category, and Medicare payment determinations. The list of topics for discussion, as well as the Guidelines for Participation in HCPCS Level II Public Meeting for B2 2026, are available at: https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Coding/MedHCPCSGenInfo/HCPCSPublicMeetings.  

 

The guidelines contain important and useful information, such as instructions for registering to attend the B2 2026 HCPCS Level II Public Meeting, deadlines for registration and materials submission, and tips for helping CMS conduct a productive meeting. The public meeting agenda order will become available on the CMS website mentioned above sometime shortly after the speaker registration deadline.  

 

All speakers (primary or a 5-minute speaker), in-person attendees, and individuals who require special accommodations must register and provide the requested information to HCPCS@cms.hhs.gov by Monday, October 19, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., eastern time (ET).
