The Unofficial LinkedIn Algorithm Guide, October 2026 Edition!

As I promised in Sunday’s newsletter, I’ve got an updated version of the Unofficial LinkedIn Algorithm Guide for you.

The October 2026 version consolidates the latest updates from LinkedIn Engineering and dramatically simplifies your approach into two buckets - the words you use and the things you do, which aligns with the underlying infrastructure.

It also comes in two flavors (flavours for my non-US spelling friends) now:

• The free version is the simplified, action-oriented playbook. What to do, how to do it. You do the work.

• The paid deluxe version (USD 20) is the free version PLUS:

  • The original technical version, updated. Useful if you want to know the inner workings and technical mechanisms. Good for the nerds, headache-inducing for everyone else

  • One-pagers for your profile, content, engagement, and measurement that are great for time-poor stakeholders and folks who just need to know what to do and don’t particularly care about the reasons why

  • AI Agent Skills for auditing your profile, content, engagement, and measurement intended for people who don’t want to read anything, they just want AI to tell them what to do. These work with any Agent Skills system, such as Claude Code, Claude Cowork, ChatGPT Work, Gemini Spark, Google Antigravity, Meta Muse, Grok Bot, OpenAI Dots, Microsoft Copilot Cowork, etc.

I will point out the agent skills will not run your LinkedIn for you. They’re auditors, not authors. Please don’t automate your LinkedIn with AI, no one enjoys that, it puts your overall performance in the toilet, and you’re not fooling anyone. Plus I’ll slap you with the “Seems like AI slop” button as often as I can.
