Musician Rick Wakeman has performed for some unusual audiences, but none quite like the 150 rescued moon bears he recently played piano for at a sanctuary in Vietnam. The former member of the band Yes played specially composed pieces to raise awareness of moon bears “kept in cruel conditions for the extraction of their bile,” said The Guardian. More than 290 bears have now been rescued in Vietnam, but about 150 remain in captivity.
A Michelin-starred chef has given a large pack of dogs the chance to “enjoy a version of the haute cuisine” served to their humans, said The Times. France’s “greatest gastronomic canine dinner,” held by candlelight at the Carnavalet history museum in Paris, treated 40 pooches to pan-fried chicken served with rice and rapeseed flowers. “Maybe some people treat dogs like humans a bit too much,” said chef Thierry Marx, but “what matters is that the dogs are well treated.”
