One click gave three AIs a key to my house.
That sentence sounds like the start of a bad smart-home movie. The lights blink twice, the robot vacuum develops opinions, and the garage door asks for a holiday.
But that is roughly why Home Assistant’s new MCP button is interesting.
It can enable the Home Assistant side of a connection for AI apps such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor. The button is one click. The whole setup is not.
Each AI app still needs its own compatible connection and sign-in. And the important part is still mine: I decide what is exposed, I review any draft, and I save it myself. The built-in path is not a magic “let the chatbot rebuild my house” button.
Krzychu, that is the boundary I wanted to make clear instead of making another video that says “AI” a lot and then quietly walks away.
The video is built around three small lighting examples:
- Claude drafts a simple auto-off automation.
- Cursor drafts a movie-lighting scene.
- ChatGPT drafts a snack-break script that can return the lights to their previous state.
The useful pattern is simple: AI drafts. I review and save. Home Assistant runs.
If you want to help the channel, watch it until the end. If letting a chatbot anywhere near Home Assistant makes one eyebrow rise higher than the other, you can skip it completely. I will understand.
P.S. I have decided that lights may get a snack break. The garage door is still on probation.
