Fall Weekly Recaps

Golf was represented by Zach Noyes and Carter Demers in the Occoquan Region Golf Championship Monday at Twin Lakes. Both players played well but were unable to score low enough to qualify for the state tournament.

Girls Volleyball went 2-1 in their matches this week. The Atoms started the week off with a 3-0 sweep of the Edison Eagles. The Atoms followed it up with a home match vs Fairfax Home School that saw the Atoms fall 3-1. However, the Atoms got it back with a dominant win over Justice Thursday evening. The Atoms travel to Falls Church Monday

Boys Volleyball played three matches this week. The Atoms played hard in all three matches but were unable to come out on top as they fell in each match to Edison, Fairfax Home School, and Justice.

Field Hockey came away with two huge district wins this week. First was a trip to Hayfield that saw the Atoms work hard to come away with a 2-1 win. Next was a home game vs Falls Church that was a defensive battle for both teams resulting in a 1-0 win to make the Atoms 6-0 heading into their final regular season game with Mt. Vernon Tuesday.

Football traveled to Edison Friday night. The game was tight early as the Atoms trailed 15-14 late in the second quarter before the Eagles added a TD to make it 22-14 at the half. The Eagles controlled the second half with the ground game and patience as they wore the Atoms down to secure the 32-14 win. The Atoms return home Friday vs Hayfield.

Boys and Girls Cross Country had a great team run Wednesday as the Atoms celebrated Senior Night. The boys teams had Adam Nicholson, Connor Uzokoff, and Tallon Wiedemann all finish first, second, and third in their race while Alice Banks finished fourth overall on the girls side. The Atoms have more race before the National District Championship on the 21st.

Cheerleading prepares for the National District Cheer Competition semifinals Wednesday at Hayfield.

Flag Football traveled to Falls Church Wednesday. The Atoms played the Jaguars tough but were unable to come away with the win. The Atoms travel to Justice Wednesday.
