Good afternoon Majors. We are coming toward the end of our fall sports. Golf has already finished their season. Cheer and Field Hockey are now in the midst of their post-season. Boys and Girls Volleyball are in their last week of the regular season and football has 3 weeks remaining in their season.
Cheer finished up district finals last week with a 5th place finish at Hayfield on Monday night. Congratulations to Mariah White on being named 1st team All District and Lily Grimsley being named 2nd team All District. Congratulations also go out to Courtney Erique being named Co-Coach of the Year in the District. The cheer team does an amazing job representing our school at competitions and during football games. They received compliments at a recent varsity football game about how spirited they are from opposing teams. Great job Majors!!
Field Hockey begins their National District tournament tomorrow night. They will play at Jefferson at 6:30 PM. If they win, they will play on Wednesday night. Good Luck Majors.
Boys Volleyball will finish their regular season this week with 2 games. One change made last week, they will play at home on Tuesday vs Hayfield at 6:00 PM. They will close out the week vs Annandale at Hayfield at 5:45 PM
Girls Volleyball will play at Hayfield on Tuesday and then will close out their regular season on Thursday with their senior night vs Annandale. Senior night activities will take place starting at approximately 7:00 PM.
Cross Country is gearing up for their postseason as well. They will have their JV championships this Wednesday and then have National District Championships next Week.
Football has 3 weeks in their season. This week is homecoming vs Annandale on Friday at 7 PM. Lower level games will be on Thursday at Annandale. Next week will be unique as the Battle of the Highway will take place on Tuesday at West Potomac at 6:30 PM. If you have vouchers from the originally scheduled game, they will honored at the gate. Next week was originally scheduled as a bye, but the freshman have a game added on Wednesday vs Annandale at home at 6:00 PM.
Winter Tryouts will start on November 11. The week of November 4th is a yellow week for all winter sports, which means they may do strength and conditioning only workouts during that week. You must have a completed VHSL physical and done the online registration for sports in order to tryout for a team.
Our athletic boosters are hosting a tailgate on Friday night for the Homecoming game in the Driver's Ed lot outside the stadium. It starts at 5:30 PM and will include a chili cookoff. Please come and join in the fun. The flyer is posted below.

- There is a Gymnastics interest meeting scheduled for Tuesday October 22 at 3:00 PM in the Gymnastics room behind the grey wall in the Field House.
- Indoor Track will have an interest meeting on Thursday in room D111.
- Homecoming is Friday October 25th at 7:00 PM vs Annandale. There will be a ceremony at halftime recognizing Royalty and the homecoming court. The Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday night in the Field House from 7:00 to 11:00 PM. Tickets will go on sale on Monday.
- Swim and Dive Team interest meeting is on Oct 24 from 3:10-3:20 in room A116.
- If you have not contacted our new girls soccer coach about playing, please reach out to Coach Andrew at apssekikubo@fcps.edu. He is planning on having an interest meeting on Thursday November 7th right after school in room D111. He will also have Green Days on Thursdays
