Garland's Día de los Muertos: A Celebration of Life, Culture, and Tradition
Garland's Día de los Muertos will be held at the Granville Arts Center on November 2, 2024, from 2 to 8 p.m. This lively event celebrates Mexican and Latin American culture, honoring loved ones through music, art, and dance. A highlight is the Catrin/Catrina Contest, where participants dress as La Catrina, the iconic holiday symbol, with prizes for the best costumes.
The event features a special Selena tribute band, "Dreaming of You—the Selena Experience," traditional dances by México 2000 Ballet Folklórico, and mariachi performances. Community and student-created altars will be displayed from October 25 to November 10. The celebration also includes food trucks, downtown dining, and an Artisan Market with themed crafts.
