With Frankfurt in the rearview mirror, we’re gearing up for the book business's next major international gathering: the Guadalajara International Book Fair. Check out our preview of the highlights from publishing’s biggest Spanish-language event and a closer look at what will surely be a much-talked-about topic at the fair: the Spanish-language audiobook boom. In other news, CLMP has announced a new funding opportunity for former client publishers of the late Small Press Distribution. Penguin Random House has added language to the copyright pages of new books and reprints that explicitly forbids their contents from being used to train AI, per the Bookseller. ProPublica and the New York Times are alleging that John Grisham's latest book uses their reporting without attribution, reports the Washington Post. The New York Times looks at how Aleksei Navalny’s prison diaries were posthumously published. The New Yorker profiled Glenn Horowitz, the controversial rare books dealer who made a fortune selling writers’ archives. The Guardian talked with children’s authors about their frustration toward the fast-growing number of celebrity-penned children’s books. And, per the BBC, a long-lost short story by Dracula author Bram Stoker has been uncovered after 134 years.
