Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing Russia to launch nuclear weapons in the event of a massive conventional attack on its soil. The warning comes as Ukrainian forces carried out their first strike within Russian territory with a Western-supplied ATACMS missile, RBC-Ukraine reported. Here’s a reminder why the US is allowing Ukraine to use them.

Assets considered havens climbed on the news. Treasury bonds, gold, the dollar, Swiss franc and Japanese yen all advanced as investors sought the safest place for their money. Meanwhile, an investment chief at Blackrock explained that the US stock rally still has a ways to go.

Another reprieve for Donald Trump. Georgia’s Court of Appeals canceled a Dec. 5 argument on whether Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis should be removed from a criminal case into whether Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election. Opposition may be growing over his attorney general pick though, with senators from both parties demanding more information on a closely held sexual misconduct probe into former Representative Matt Gaetz.

Jersey Mike’s is close to getting gobbled up, with Blackstone in talks to pay about $8 billion for the sandwich chain. The company has been investing in food service chains this year, buying Tropical Smoothie Cafe and putting money into 7 Brew Coffee. Sticking with food, Nestle plans to spin off water brands including Maison Perrier and Acqua Panna.

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown is launching a $200 sneaker line three years after he walked away from a $50 million Adidas deal. Brown's venture aims to give athletes more creative control and input, a departure from traditional endorsement deals with giants like Nike and Under Armour.
