Members of the bipartisan House Ethics Committee met behind closed doors but did not reach an agreement on whether to release a report detailing their sweeping investigation into former Rep. Matt Gaetz, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general. Democratic Rep. Sean Casten of Illinois said he would move to force a vote on the House floor to make the document public if the Ethics Committee did not agree to do so itself. Several Republicans in the Senate have said they want to review the report before holding a Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing for Gaetz next year. |
