Here's what we know so far about the new console

Nintendo has finally revealed the Switch 2, the successor to the original Switch, in a surprise first-look trailer. There have been rumors about the new console for years, and we’ve been particularly excited, as the original Nintendo Switch is one of our longtime favorite handheld gaming consoles.

There haven’t been many details shared, but here’s what we know so far:

  • It's bigger: The screen and Joy-Cons are larger than on the original Switch.

  • The dock looks redesigned on the Switch 2, and the kickstand will be U-shaped and extend along the length of the console, likely increasing stability.

  • The console will launch this year, but the exact timing and pricing haven’t been revealed yet.

  • Switch games will (for the most part) work on the Switch 2.
